Infrasound Macrophones: Album Illustration

Everyday Infrasound in an Uncertain World is a field recording by Brian House, released on Gruenrekorder in 2025 as a limited edition 180-gram vinyl. The album captures 24 hours of infrasound (frequencies below human hearing) recorded at the Amherst College Wildlife Sanctuary and sped up 60 times to make the inaudible audible.

I created a technical illustration of Brian's custom-built "macrophones" — infrasonic recording devices modeled on equipment used by the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization — for the back of the gatefold vinyl sleeve. The overall album design was by Partner & Partners.
